In the process of translation, translators always deal with challenging situations based on the context and complexity of the source text. Many challenges pop up in the way of rendering a target text that can offer both the readability and authenticity. In working with Fantasy Literature, one of these challenges can be rendering proper nouns which may be used for identifying Characters, Places, Objects and etc. Different methods are introduced by for Example Aguilera (2008), Hermans (1988) and Harvey and Higgins (1986) for rendering and translating proper nouns and in this thesis, after getting familiar with these, Van Coillie’s (2006) method was chosen as the main theoretical framework for analyzing the methods used for rendering proper nouns in Farsi translation(s) of Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, a Game of Thrones and three Harry Potter books. Then the results were shared and finally some suggestions for both the future studies and practical solutions in dealing with proper nouns in translation were suggested.
