tiThis research is aimed to apply House’s translation quality assessment (1997) model on a Persian translation of “Lord of the Flies”. The Researcher tried to identify two types of errors (covert errors and overt errors). Accordingly, the researcher used this model to discuss and analyze some sample sentences and compare them with their translations. Some features as ‘field,’ ‘tenor,’ ‘mode,’ and ‘genre’ are taken into consideration. The researcher found covert errors by comparing the ST and TT profiles. There were only two covert errors which were related to the mismatches between the author's provenance and stance (author and translator) and social attitude (informal and partly formal). Overt errors in this study have been categorized into four categories: 1) Addition 2) Omission 3) Not Translated Sentences 4) Substitution. The results of the study demonstrate that in the chosen chapters of the translation there were high numbers of errors belonging to overt errors. There were two covert errors. Hence, there were high numbers of overt errors which express the chosen chapters of translation were not translated overtly; in contrast, they were translated covertly.
