This study investigated the effect of reflective learning e-journals on vocabulary knowledge of female and male Iranian EFL learners. Learning logs can be prompted by questions about learners’ own ideas or learners’ thought processes about what happened in a particular class period. As vocabulary is a core component of language proficiency, this study investigated the effect of reflective learning e-journals on vocabulary knowledge of female and male Iranian EFL learners. So one hundred and twenty intermediate EFL learners took part in this study. In this study, the researcher applied probability sampling method, because randomization was used and all members had equal chance of being selected. They were divided into two experimental and control group. Following a homogeneity Nelson proficiency test, 80 learners were chosen and divided into one experimental group (20 males and 20 females) and one control group (20 males and 20 females). Before accomplishing the treatment, all of the 80 learners took a VKS (vocabulary knowledge scale) Test which included 100 new words to prove that none of them were familiar with the captioned vocabularies. After VKS test, the researcher chose 77 words to be taught during treatment. 8 sessions were assigned for treatment and 2 sessions for pretest and posttest. While control group didn’t receive any treatment on the basis of learning e-journals, the experimental group was offered reflective learning e-journal technique. Before accomplishing posttest, it was piloted to be confident that the test was reliable and valid. In the last session all of the learners participated in posttest which was administered to both groups to identify differences between experimental and control groups. The analyses of the data revealed that reflective learning e-journals had positive effect on Iranian EFL learners’ vocabulary knowledge. Furthermore, there was not a significant difference between the male and female EFL learners’ performance on the posttest of vocabulary using the reflective e-journals. They performed in the same way in post-test. The result of this study can be very helpful for EFL learners and pave the way for more effective and exciting vocabulary learning.
