Improving fluency and accuracy in speaking is one of the IELTS candidates’ goals and for achieving their goals, they attend IELTS preparation courses. This study aimed to investigate the effect of voice recording on IELS candidates’ speaking fluency and accuracy. To carry out the study 24 adult IELTS candidates were selected. They were divided in two groups, one control and one focus group. During a 32-hour intensive IELTS speaking preparation course, both groups underwent the speaking training course. Different parts of the IELTS speaking test were practised. Both groups had some practice on IELTS speaking part two, which is a two-minute monologue. The candidates in the control group received feedback from the teacher and their peers after a two-minute monologue. The candidates in the focus group were recorded and they had a chance to listen to their recorded voice. In addition to teacher and peer evaluation, they could benefit from self-evaluation. The only difference between the focus and control group was the implementation of voice recording in the focus group. The rest of the procedure was applied similarly in both groups. The result of the study showed a significant change in their fluency but not a considerable effect on their accuracy
