چكيده
Interpreters play a key role in this modern era, but they often are under criticism for their performance and interpretation. This thesis investigatesthe performances of the five interpreters, one as football national team interpreter and the rest of four interpreters formleague teamsas a representation sample of interpreters in Iranian football. Their performancesin terms of the influence of audience design were investigated as one ofthe probable factors of stylistic choices in their interpretation. In this investigation, around five hours of video football press conferenceswere analyzed in relation to two general components: face management strategies and information management strategies.In face managementstrategies, the specificparameters such as shifts in interpretation of address terms, deferent statement, converting indirectness to directness, replacement of address terms to third person pronoun, pronoun choice and conventional indirectness were used.For information management strategies section,presupposition and explicitation were usedto analyze the data. Despite all limitation, the results showed that the performance of these five interpreters were under influence of their audience, i.e. audience design.
