چكيده
This study examined the qualities of inspiring EFL teachers from EFL teachers’ and learners’ vantage point of view. Based on availability sampling, 110 male and female EFL learners with the age range from 15 to 25 were selected to fill out the questionnaire which included seven sub-sections on assessment and evaluation, differentiation and inclusion, clarity of instruction, instructional skills, promoting active learning, developing metacognitive skills, classroom climate, and classroom management. International System of Teacher Observation and Feedback (ISTOF) was also exploited to observe 5 EFL teachers to assess the extent to which they had the inspiring teachers’ qualifications. They were consequently interviewed through 25-item semi-structure interviews on the qualities of the inspiring teachers. The learners’ perceptions of effective teaching behaviors revealed that the highest mean rank was reported for the scale ʹassessment and evaluation’ closely followed by ‘clarity of instruction’. In comparison, the lowest rating was made for the scale ‘differentiation and inclusion’. The results of the statistical analyses revealed that the teachers showed better performance in maintaining safe and stimulating learning environment and adapting teaching to the needs of the students was the most complex teaching domain.
