The aim of this study is to compare and evaluate three course books (Top- notch, English Result, and Prospect in use at schools in Iran) in terms of the facilities and technology used in material development. A checklist was developed for evaluation by the researcher and supported by two experts: the supervisor and the advisor of the thesis. Due to the comparative nature of this study, fourteen closed-response items corresponding to fourteen common facilities and technologies in current second language textbooks were prepared for the final checklist. These items were organized in the form of a four-point Likert scale ranging from ‘weak = 1’ to ‘excellent = 4’ for each type of facility provided by the course book. After collecting the data through the checklist, both descriptive and inferential statistics were applied to analyze and interpret the data. In order to compare and evaluate the facility and technology items in three commonly used books (Top Notch, English Result, Prospect) and to prove the significance of the difference among these textbooks, the non-parametric Chi- Square Test was run to take the data gathered by the items of the checklist. Based on the conclusion of the statistics of the findings of the checklist, specific difference was shown between the books with regard to the facilities and technologies provided by them.
