چكيده
The vast development of technology brings about changes in communication as well as the use of English teaching and learning. By the increasing application of social media globally, the possible methods to transmit education and plan teaching materials have been enhanced. Social media platforms provide teachers and students with different advantages such as improved instructional materials and endless resources that involve students in various types of multimedia (Banafi,2013). Telegram is an IM service in which users can send text messages, photos, videos, stickers and files of any type. A message sender or receiver in Telegram can be a user, a group or a channel. The present study focused on five popular English teaching channels to define the quality of their posts and also, find out their members’ attitude s toward them. Among Telegram channels, five popular Telegram channels with more members were chosen and their posts were monitored and checked by two Instructors. Twenty intermediate EFL students were selected and they were asked to follow these channels and they were asked to express their attitudes. It was shown that Iranian Telegram channels provided variety of posts for their followers. Nine main categories were presented. Inspiring texts had the highest portion among the other posts, vocabulary and grammar followed it respectively. Channels applied inspiring texts, too. It was shown that the participants had positive ideas towards these channels and they liked to follow these channels.
