چكيده
This study aimed at finding the effects of two methods of top-down approach on intermediate learners’ listening ability. To do so, forty five intermediate learners from Karaj language schools were chosen. A posttest exam was run to find out their listening abilities. Then they were divided into three groups. One of them had activities based onbackground knowledge, the other group received Advance organizer treatment and the last group was considered as a control group. The posttest was run then and the data were analyzed. The results of the ANOVA showed that there was a difference between groups. Both experimental groups outperformed the control group. Also the results showed that the Advance organizer group outperformed the background knowledge group.
