Textbooks are considered as the heart of the ELT program and their undeniable role as the success or failure factor has turned textbook selection and development into a debatable issue in the ELT context. In the context of ELT in Iran, textbook evaluation is even more of an important issue due to the objection of non communicative series which used as a part of national curriculum. Following the Ministry of Education’s decision to revise the English books for schools and to develop new series, titled Prospect, based on CLT, a number of studies have been done to investigate the books from different perspectives. However, this study is the first trying to investigate the whole series in terms of CLT principles. To bring this aim to end, first CLT principles were defined through different scholars’ perspectives. Then, the CLT components of communicative language use, culture, accuracy and fluency, integrating language skills and strategies were examined in each book. Two units of each book were selected and evaluated based on the principles. The results revealed that the authorsʹ claim about adaptation of Communicative principles in the series was to be 67.83 percent. Since the teachers are the real implementers of CLT within the classroom environment, it was found essential to investigate teachers’ familiarity with CLT; therefore, a questionnaire and an interview were designed. The questionnaire indicated that teachers who teach Prospect Series had an acceptable understanding of CLT; however, their knowledge can be improved through more workshops and training courses.
