Existential crisis befalls an individual whenever he/she becomes conscious over his/her own freedom in front of an apparently absurd universe, in philosophical terms, an​d whenever an individual begins to think about his/her position an​d situation as a conscious being within his/her own society, in social an​d humanitarian terms. In order not to submit to the apparent absurdity of the world an​d not to remain in doubt over one’s position an​d situation in the society, Existentialism offers mankind a set of principles to bear the universe an​d one’s life an​d to live the moments of life in the best possible way. Gabriel García Márquez’ Strange Pilgrims is a collection of twelve stories in which Márquez has presented us with the lives of people struggling with their existence as such, people who are trying to make sense of their lives before the existential crises that happen to them. Regarding the range of these people’s experiences within the stories an​d Márquez’ broad view towards mankind’s condition in the universe, the present thesis tries to investigate into the existential crises that have befallen these people an​d highlight Márquez’ solutions for them.
