چكيده
The present study investigated the effect of reciprocal teaching and deductive strategy teaching on the EFL learnersʹ use of reading comprehension strategies and reading comprehension. In order to achieve this end, three research questions were posed to determine whether there wasany significant effect of reciprocal teaching on EFL learnersʹ reading comprehension strategy use and reading performance. Fifty-three EFL female learners from two language institutes participated in this study. Reading comprehension was measured through a 30-item multiple choice test and reading comprehension strategy use was measured via a 12-item questionnaire. An ANOVA was used to compare the data obtained from the groups. There was no significant difference between the groups regarding their reading performance on the test. However, there was a significant difference between the groups regarding reading strategy use. Considering the results, it was concluded that the two treatments applied in this study would not make a difference between the groups in terms of reading comprehension improvement. However, reciprocal teaching of reading strategies was found to be significantly influential in terms of improving learnersʹ reading comprehension strategies use.
