چكيده
In this research we tried to measure the effect of task -based language teaching on the speaking skill of the EFL Learners in Babol city. In order to do that, a quantitative study was done on two randomly selected classes. These two classes were named as experimental group (30 students) and control group (30 students). It was hypothesized that there were significant differences between the mean scores of the EG and the CG in the speaking skill in favor of the EG and there were significant differences between the mean scores of the EG on the speaking pretest and post- test in the speaking skill in favor of the post- test scores. In this research the researcher used the following instruments: (1) a pre-post speaking test. (2)An evaluation rating scale (3) a program of instruction. We made a speaking proficiency test and used it as a pre-posttest. In order to develop the experimental groupʹs speaking skills, we made a TBLT program. Students of the EG received instruction through the instructional program; while students in the CG received regular instruction. At the end of the instruction, to understand the effectiveness of the instruction in developing the EGsʹ speaking skills, the researcher performed a post- test to both the EG and CG. The results of the research showed that the TBLT program enhanced significantly the speaking skills of the EG and confirmed the hypotheses of the research.
