The use of current technology can improve the quality of education. Language instructors must embrace new technologies to keep up with current trends. The flipped learning paradigm uses technology to teach in flipped classrooms. This study aimed to compare the oral communication strategies and motivation levels of Iranian intermediate female EFL learners in flipped learning instruction and traditional classrooms. Therefore, this study elucidated 1) whether there are significant differences between EFL learners' oral communication strategies in flipped learning classrooms and traditional classrooms; 2) whether there are significant differences between EFL learners' motivation levels in flipped learning classrooms and traditional classrooms; 3) the types of oral communication strategies EFL learners perceive to be used in flipped learning classrooms as opposed to traditional classrooms. The participants were 40 intermediate EFL learners studying at Azad University, Najafabad branch who randomly were allocated to an experimental and a control group. Oral Communication Strategy Inventory (OCSI) developed by Nakatani (2006) as well as Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire (MSLQ) developed developed by Pintrich et al. (1991) were used. The independent samples t-test showed significant differences in their oral communication strategies between the experimental and control groups. Also, some strategies were used more frequently than other strategies in dealing with speaking and listening problems. Finally, the independent samples t-tests showed significant differences between various subcategories of motivation. These outcomes support the implementation of the flipped model in the EFL classroom for better development in mastering an EFL.
