چكيده
This study aimed to design an innovative measurement to improve students’ listening skill through different sections of IELTS listening. Specifically, this study compared the showcase of an e-portfolio group of students to the documentation of that to find the difference between the groups which used an e-portfolio and one that did not have self-evaluation. Before the classes underwent the tests, only the teachers’ formative evaluation existed in the class. This study investigated the effect of e-portfolio on the assessment of listening through IELTS candidates in two language institutes among three IELTS classes totally on fifteen students who were going to take IELTS by the end of the year 2019 and they were all studying based on complete IELTS by Cambridge books band score 4-5. The statistical tests which were used to measure the associations between these variables were two-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), Post-hoc Scheffeʹs Tests. This study clearly demonstrated the positive effect of e-portfolios on listening skill improvement. The showcase was unique for each learner, in their mobile phone or other devices in an electronic format and they recorded their work produced outside of timed examination conditions. To assess their listening section progress and weakness they kept documentation to measure their weaknesses in the section as well. The third group bared non-portfolio intervention evaluation as it was being assessed by the teacher in a formative method of evaluation. As the comparison between the three groups showed, keeping a portfolio from all listening results of the candidates, they developed independent learning skills, including the ability to monitor their performance, make decisions about their language competency and act upon the comparison between their test results. In this study, students of three IELTS classes were assessed through E-portfolio, to examine the feasibility of e-portfolio assessment in the IELTS (International English Language Testing System) listening skill. The study also revealed that creating Showcase e-portfolio was more beneficial and improved the participantsʹ performance on the listening test better than creating documentation e-portfolio.
