Having visual knowledge and taking a detailed look at images play an important role in understanding the society we live in and even in selecting and developing the images of the textbooks. So, in the current study, researchers use the Grammar of Visual Design to analyze the images which were selected from Four Corners books. This research has designed as a descriptive- analytic study in which the images of the Four Corners 1, 2, 3 and 4 were examined and compared. Then, every image was examined in terms of the categories which include of interactive meaning (i.e., contact, social distance, and attitude) and representational structures (i.e., narrative processes). In this study, the analysis was limited to two levels of the books, that is, elementary and advanced levels, and to two sections of the selected books, vocabulary and conversation sections. There were some differences in vocabulary and conversation sections in term of interactive meanings and it is considered as the positive point of these textbooks. One of the most important implications that can be mentioned here is that the English material developers should take great care over the choice of photos, with regard to the potential meaning that they have. Images should be selected based on the level of the students and also, in accordance with instructional purposes pursued in different parts of the textbooks.
