چكيده
This study investigated the impact of dialogue journal writing on ESP learners’ speaking abilities as well as their English self-confidence. The participants of the study were 60 adult male employees of Petrochemical Complex of Tabriz, Iran. The participants were randomly assigned into two groups: the experimental group and control group. Both groups were given IELTS Speaking Test as a pre- and post-test. The experimental group received dialogue journal writing as the treatment of the course in addition to their regular classroom activities. An English Self-Confidence Questionnaire was also administered before pre-test and after post-test. The course lasted for about two months. The gathered data were then analyzed. The findings of the study revealed that the experimental group that practiced dialogue journal writing significantly outperformed the control group on post-test, this is, the dialogue journal writing improved their speaking abilities; moreover, the self-confidence among the experimental group surprisingly increased in comparison to the control group
